FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Medina, OHIO, January 31, 2022 – The Medina County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health (ADAMH) Board, in collaboration with OhioGuidestone, has announced plans to host a virtual “housewarming” event during the month of February for the new recovery housing facility for women in Medina County.

The Discovery Recovery House opened in June of 2021. The facility was built and is owned by the Medina County ADAMH Board, and is being operated by OhioGuidestone, one of Ohio’s leading behavioral health agencies. The project was made possible through the support of a local human services levy that the residents of Medina County approved in 2019.

“OhioGuidestone has been an ADAMH Board provider agency since 2017 and has become an integral part of the ADAMH Board’s mental health and substance use continuum of care,” said Medina County ADAMH Board Executive Director Phillip Titterington. “OhioGuidestone staff are always willing to work together to meet the needs of Medina County residents. They work tirelessly to ensure the success of the individuals they work with.”

The Discovery Recovery House is a Level 3 recovery house offering supervised living conditions for up to 12 women who are actively working towards long term sobriety. The facility provides peer recovery services, recovery supports, education skills, employment skills, substance use treatment options, and linkage to other resources to help with future independence.

“The Discovery Recovery House has had an immediate impact on our community,” said OhioGuidestone Peer Recovery Coordinator Stefanie Robinson, who oversees operations. “We are seeing women come in and successfully build strong foundations for life-long recovery.”

During the month of February, the Discovery Recovery House staff is asking for community support with donations to help provide many essential items for the women staying at the facility. There is an Amazon wish list available to make purchasing items easy and convenient. These essentials will go a long way towards helping these women on their journey of recovery.
