April Leading Edge

LMC Alumni share how “Earth Day is Every Day”

Remember when Earth Day was only one day in April? Well, thanks to COVID, Earth Day has been re-invented. Now, it’s Earth Day is Every Day!

Shelly Tender, LMC ’17, explains: “The goal of Earth Day is Every Day is to get people excited about and engaged in learning how to care for the environment in ways they feel most comfortable doing so.”

In the past, Buffalo Creek hosted Earth Day festivities for Medina County. In lieu of having an annual in-person event, committees have been created to contribute to a calendar of events. There is literally something for everyone.

Serving as the Park’s Interpretive Services Manager, Shelly Tender commented on the available activities: “With a combination of webinars, pre-recorded videos, tutorials, take-n-makes and in-person hikes and stewardship service days, we think we have provided something for everyone to participate in.”

Jill Teubl, Marketing Coordinator for the Park District and LMC Class of 2019 alum, shared, “The Earth Day activity schedule for April has something for everyone. We hope it will inspire others to celebrate and cherish the Earth throughout the year.”
