Signature Class of 2025 Explores Wadsworth’s Thriving Industries
The Class That Clicked dove into the heart of Wadsworth’s business landscape during Business & Industry Day, gaining an exclusive look at the companies shaping Medina County’s economy. From precision manufacturing to cutting-edge engineering, the day was packed with insights, hands-on experiences, and a few surprises along the way.
A Morning of Big Ideas
We kicked off the day at Wadsworth City Hall, where Bethany Dentler ’10 (Medina County Economic Development Corporation) and Janie Parish ’09 (Wadsworth Area Chamber of Commerce) shared their expertise on the region’s economic growth and business development. Over a delicious breakfast, generously provided by Ann Reusch of Elkay Bakery Services LLC, we discussed the driving forces behind Wadsworth’s expanding industries.
Behind the Scenes of Wadsworth’s Leading Businesses
Our first stop was Clampco Products, where Jason Venner ’20 and his team walked us through the intricate process of manufacturing high-quality clamps. We even got to take home some Clampco swag!
At Rohrer Corporation, Megan Hamula and her team gave us a firsthand look at the packaging industry—showing us how everyday products like batteries and Q-Tips get their signature packaging.
After a fantastic lunch from Eclectic Edibles, we visited Soprema, where we admired their impressive living plant wall (maintained by a specialist who happened to be tending to it that day!).
The learning continued at Luke Engineering & Anodizing Co., where Meg Bates LEAD ’21 demonstrated the intricate process of metal aluminizing and its role in creating durable, high-quality finishes.
At The Ruhlin Company, Tom Hill and Jennifer Watson took us on a tour of their expansive equipment yard and gave us a look at some of their past projects—including a tugboat from a previous job!
A Day of Innovation and Leadership
Throughout the day, the Signature Class had the opportunity to engage with industry leaders, witness innovation in action, and deepen their understanding of the businesses that drive our local economy.
A huge thank you to all the businesses that welcomed us, shared their expertise, and gave us a closer look at the craftsmanship, leadership, and innovation that keep Wadsworth and Medina County thriving.
