’93  The Best

Jim Gerspacher ’93 received approvals from Medina’s Historic Board and the City of Medina for plans to build a new five story 75 room hotel, just one-half block from Medina’s Public Square and across from Castle Noel.  The hotel will also feature a rooftop lounge and observation deck, looking to open in the fall of 2024.

Jean Jamison ‘94  It is with deep sadness that we share with you that Jean has passed away.

 

’95  The Greatest

Sharon Ray ’95 has been re-elected to the Ohio House of Representatives and will be representing the 66th House District for the 135th General Assembly.

Skip Sipos ’97 has been appointed to the Medina County Solid Waste Planning Committee.

William “Bill” Hutson ‘01 was elected in November to Judge of the Court of Common Pleas.

Bethany Dentler ‘10  was awarded the 2022 Economic Development Leader Award from the National Rural Economic Developers Association, an organization of electric cooperatives and economic development organizations with members spanning 40 states.

Mike Kovack ’10 received the received the following accolades from the WCTV Clapper Awards:

Kathy Breitenbucher ’11 was awarded the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Ohio Educational Service Center Association.

Terri Green ’12, a member of the Leadership Medina County Foster Awareness Committee, received the following accolade from the WCTV Clapper Awards:

Matt Wiederhold ‘12 has been appointed to the City of Medina Historic Preservation Board as an alternate member, with his term beginning January 2, 2023. He also recently served as the State-wide Chair for Historic Preservation Advocacy during the National Trust for Historic Preservation Past/Forward Conference.

Ted Klimczak, CPA ‘14 was recently appointed to Principal (Medina office – Northeast Ohio Region) through REA & Associates.

Libby Bux ’15 recently adopted a girl that she fostered for the past 15 months.

Amy Lyon-Galvin ’15, a member of the Leadership Medina County Foster Awareness Committee, received the following accolade from the WCTV Clapper Awards:

Rhonda Wurgler ’15 received a Certificate in Recognition from the National Society of Leadership and Success  for completing the Foundations of Leadership program of Aspen University.

Radiah B. Blanton Ed.D. ‘16  is the Executive Director and now working with Dr. Baston at Cuyahoga Community College serving as the ED of Strategy Initiatives for the College.

’20 In Focus

David Smith Jr. ’20 accepted a board position at FIS Worldpay as the Program Lead for SALUTE which is a Veteran focused network for all military branches that work for FIS or are searching for a career at FIS.  It is a two term from December 2022 through December 2024.

Ashley Sorgen ‘20  is pleased to announce that Marie Mirro Edmonds Co., LPA, is now known as Edmonds Sorgen, LLC.  They will continue offering the same personalized, approachable estate planning, estate administration, and elder law legal services that has been offered since 1990.

 

’21 Resilient

Jason V. Sanders ‘21, a member of the Leadership Medina County Foster Awareness Committee, received the following accolade from the WCTV Clapper Awards:

He will also graduate from University of Akron School of Law on December 16th and take the February 2023 bar exam.

 

’22 The Phoenix

Nate Eppink ’22 shared that the Medina County Park District acquired 683 acres in 2022 with help from more than $2.6 million in grants and a donation of 203 acres, the largest gift of land in the district’s 57-year history, from Diane (Dedee) O’Neil of Westfield Center.  We are also pleased to announce that The Ohio Parks and Recreation Association has awarded Feeding Medina County and the Medina County Park District with 1st Place for Health and Wellness Programs.

Jodie McInnes ‘22 shared that on behalf of the Ohio ACTE Leadership, she has been accepted to participate in the 2023 Byrl R. Shoemaker CTE Institute.  This leadership opportunity is specific to Career Tech in the state of Ohio.

Andrew Schuler ’22 recently joined the Board of the Free Clinic of Medina.
