The Society remains steadfast on our focus of the health and safety of the individuals with developmental disabilities we support and the dedicated staff committed to their care as the Covid-19 virus spreads across the U.S. Our team followed the guidelines set forth by the CDC, CMS, and Governor DeWine and Dr. Amy Acton from the beginning to protect our individuals, staff, and the community. Our Executive Director, Melanie A. Kasten Krause, Assistant Executive Director, Shelly Wharton, and Director of Operations and Staff Development, Tony Kirkby lead discussions daily on the best way to continue to keep everyone safe, healthy, supported, and engaged. We have created a SWAT team prepared to initiate based on the situation thanks to additional Leadership Alumni, Lynn Emmons, Lisa Taunt, Matte Meuer, Stevie Bradway, Melissa Hart, and Ashland Leadership Alumni, Will McMahan. Our Day Programs closed early, but the team continues to prepare curriculum and send out supplies to keep everyone engaged and learning. We are prepared to activate teams should a relocation plan be needed. The team is working very hard to keep our individuals on a “normal” routine during this challenging time. The Society wants to thank the community for supporting us with donations, cards, FaceTime visits, masks, face shields, crafts and more! The Society mission to created partnerships to support friends with disabilities in our community remains our priority and we look forward to celebrating with everyone soon.
