Position Description: Executive Director
The Children’s Center of Medina County (CCMC), a non-profit organization, is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Executive Director. Through actively cultivating a positive professional relationship with Board Members, Center Staff and outside agencies, the Executive Director directs the day-to-day operations that place the needs of children first in an investigation of abuse and neglect.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Successfully maintain membership with NCA that provides accreditation for the center.
· Ensures that CCMC meets funder and accreditation requirements, maintains documentation, and files reports as required. Maintains cooperative working relationships with funders and accrediting agencies.
· Ensuring excellence in the child advocacy center field, including seeking accreditation and keeping updated on trends and changes in the field.
· Responsible for overall fiscal management. Authorizes bill payment, including payroll, ensures preparation of fiscal reports as required, and sees that accounts are audited annually.
· Performs overall administrative tasks necessary to ensure effective and fiscally sound operation of the CCMC.
· Maintains familiarity with fiscal position and keeps the Board of Directors informed.
· Prepares and submits the annual draft budget to the Board of Directors for approval.
· Prepares funding applications as needed. Maintains funding base needed to provide CCMC services. Seeks new funding sources.
· Monitor cash flow and investments of CCMC funds.
· Serves as agency representative and liaison to appropriate organizations, businesses, boards, etc. as well as to the multidisciplinary team.
· Networks with community service providers.
· Participates in national, state and local organizations concerned with child abuse.
· Represents the CCMC in media contacts and in other public situations. Maintains relationships with groups working on issues related to the Center’s mission.
· Ensures a positive presence and public image. Assures that the CCMC carries a significant role in the community and is known for its mission and valuable services.
· Attend networking, charity, donor, seminars, training, and professional events as appropriate and necessary.
· Supervises Center staff, maintains timecards, manages training requirements
· Conducts annual performance evaluations of Center staff
· Maintains updated criminal background checks for Board, staff and volunteers.
· Maintains a cooperative and communicative relationship with the Board of Directors, assuring that they have information necessary to carry out their responsibilities.
· Prepares the agenda for Board meetings. Attends all Board meetings and functions. Works with Board committees and assists them in implementing their plans and decisions. Provides information and guidance as requested.
· Other duties as necessary to maintain operation of the Center and/or assigned by the Board of Directors.
1) Must possess knowledge of child abuse issues and current standards of practice.
2) Must also possess knowledge related to physical and sexual child abuse, legal proceedings and crisis intervention; coordination and administrative skills; human relations and coordination, particularly with multidisciplinary child abuse teams, including social services, legal, medical and mental health professionals is preferred.
3) Experience providing public speaking and training preferred.
4) Must be experienced in grant writing, grants management and fundraising.
5) Experience with staff supervision required.
6) Must be able to work collaboratively with professionals from a variety of disciplines.
7) Must possess excellent problem solving, communication, and customer service skills.
1) Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred.
2) A minimum eight years of experience managing human and financial resources.
3) Thorough knowledge of agency administration and thorough knowledge of organizational structure and dynamics of a Board of Directors. Knowledge of local, state and federal legislative process. Knowledge of the dynamics of child abuse and neglect.
4) Verbal communication skills to make presentations on both local and national levels.
5) Writing skills to develop and prepare grants and correspondence.
6) Math skills to develop budgets, prepare and interpret statistical data.
7) Reading skills to comprehend large amount of varied materials in a limited time and listening skills to interpret communications from staff, Board and community.
8) Ability to be flexible. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to communicate well with people at all levels.
9) Valid Driver’s License, personal vehicle, and current vehicle liability insurance.
