Need 2 LEAD: A Powerful Close to a Transformative Journey

On May 1st, the LEAD Institute Class of 2025, proudly known as Need 2 LEAD, gathered at the picturesque RPM Lodge for a day that was equal parts reflection, celebration, and preparation. Their Closing Retreat, generously sponsored by RPM, served as a meaningful capstone to a year defined by growth, connection, and leadership.

The morning began with a warm welcome over a delicious continental breakfast, followed by opening remarks from Brian Frasier, Director of Compliance Audit at RPM, a LEAD Institute alumni of the Class of 2022, and a recent graduate of the Signature Class of 2025. Brian spoke not only as a leader in his field but as a peer who truly understands the LEAD journey. His message resonated with authenticity and inspiration, setting the tone for a day full of insight and community.

The heart of the morning was dedicated to Your Leading Edge (YLE) presentations, where each class member shared their personal leadership journeys, shaped by the book Your Leading Edge and months of self-discovery. These presentations offered a deep and often emotional glimpse into how far each participant has come—and where they hope to lead next.

After a well-earned lunch break, the group engaged in a hands-on team-building challenge known as the Tarp Flip. Standing together on a large tarp, the class worked collaboratively to flip it over—without allowing a single person to step off. This activity, much like the program itself, demanded strategy, communication, adaptability, and trust. It was a powerful metaphor for leadership and reinforced the strength of their collective bond.

The afternoon brought space for Class Year Reflections, where the class looked back on their experiences, both individual and shared. From breakthroughs to challenges, each story added to a collective sense of pride in what Need 2 LEAD has accomplished.

Next, Terri and Jennifer walked the class through alumni opportunities and graduation preparation, sparking excitement about staying connected and involved beyond the program. With Graduation at The Galaxy just around the corner, the class spent time finalizing their Graduation Presentations, preparing to share their journeys with friends, family, and community leaders.

As the day drew to a close, Terri delivered a heartfelt farewell address—one last reminder of the purpose and potential each class member carries forward. It was a touching send-off that left few dry eyes in the room.

The retreat wrapped up with a celebratory Cocktail Reception, filled with laughter, storytelling, and the unmistakable energy that comes from completing something truly meaningful—together.

As Need 2 LEAD prepares to graduate, it’s clear that this group of leaders is not just ready for the next step—they’re eager to take it. And we can’t wait to see the impact they’ll make in Medina County and beyond. May your leadership inspire, your actions uplift, and your service endure.
