Leadership Medina County’s latest program offering, Legacy Leaders, held their Opening Retreat at Allardale Lodge on August 14th. The Legacy Leaders Program was born from the 2019 Leadership Medina County Signature Program class project.
The idea behind the new program is to introduce volunteer opportunities and the chance to learn about the various non-profit work being done in Medina County. The program focuses on the retired or near retirement age bracket, allowing them to, as the Legacy Leaders Director Bob Thompson says, “Get Involved and Stay Involved.” Legacy Leaders kicked off their first day by hearing from Medina County Health Commissioner, Krista Wasowski, about the various community organizations and how staying involved in non profit volunteering is a great way to stay active. The group was treated to a tour of the Medina County Parks District, including Green Leaf Park, Carolyn Ludwig Mugrage Park and the Wolf Creek Environmental Center, by Medina County Parks Director, Nathan Eppink. Nathan spoke about the importance of green space in our county, and the efforts that are being made to preserve and maintain them.
